Perlite

An amorphous volcanic glass that has a single water content. Occurs naturally and expand when heated sufficiently. It is white in colour, lightweight, contains 70% to 75% silicon dioxide. Holds more air and water. Excess water is drained.

Uses

This is used as a soil amendment or alone as a medium for hydroponics or mixed with cocopeat as potting medium to raise plants, helps prevent soil compaction and excellent root development.
